About Chris Suffecool

Chris Suffecool is an Arizona employment attorney who advises executives, senior professionals, and select employees in high-stakes workplace matters. His practice focuses on strategic counseling and negotiation involving severance agreements, employment contracts, compensation disputes, restrictive covenants, and - when it makes strategic sense - selective litigation.

The Defense-Side Advantage

The majority of Chris's career was spent on the employer's side of the table. He represented large national employers at prominent defense-side firms, then moved in-house as employment counsel for a major employer — advising leadership, managing disputes, and working alongside corporate defense attorneys in federal and state courts and before agencies including the EEOC and NLRB.

That experience gave him something most plaintiff's employment attorneys don't have: a clear understanding of how companies think. How they calculate severance offers. How they structure non-competes and what they're actually willing to enforce. Where their leverage ends and where yours begins.

When Chris sits across from an employer — or their counsel — he's not guessing at their strategy. He's seen it from the inside.

Education & Credentials

Chris earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and his law degree from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Over more than 15 years of practice, he has represented sophisticated clients — including large national employers and C-suite executives — in employment matters in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies.

What Chris Helps Clients With

  • Severance negotiations and separation agreements

  • Employment agreement and compensation disputes — including bonus, commission, and equity matters

  • Non-compete and restrictive covenant review and disputes

  • Pre-litigation strategy and demand letters

  • Selective representation in discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters

Chris’s approach is practical and candid. Not every legal wrong should be litigated — and part of the value of good counsel is knowing when to negotiate, when to hold, and when to escalate.

A Boutique, Client-Focused Approach

Chris's approach is practical and candid. Not every legal wrong should be litigated — and part of the value of good counsel is knowing when to negotiate, when to hold, and when to escalate. Clients come to Chris because they want a clear-eyed assessment of their situation and a strategy that serves their actual goals — not just their anger.

Suffecool Law is intentionally selective. Chris works directly with every client — no associates, no handoffs. The firm focuses on matters where strategy, credibility, and insider knowledge can make a meaningful difference in the outcome.

Beyond the Office

Chris was born and raised in Tucson and has lived in the East Valley for many years with his wife and two daughters. He goes to every one of his kids' games and events — no exceptions. He works out religiously, loves hiking and exploring Arizona, and is an avid reader of fiction, with a particular weakness for fantasy and sci-fi. The Suffecool household also includes two dogs, two cats, and a desert tortoise.

Our Approach

Suffecool Law is intentionally selective.  We focus on strategic employment counsel for executives, senior professionals, and employees with serious, well-documented matters.  Our goal is clear advice, thoughtful negotiation, and escalation only when it makes strategic and financial sense.
