Employment Counsel for Employees & Senior Professionals
Selective, Strategic Representation for Serious Workplace Matters
Suffecool Law represents employees and senior professionals in Arizona — but not every matter, and not every client.
Chris Suffecool takes a limited number of employee matters each year, prioritizing cases with clear documentation, significant economic impact, and clients who understand that good legal counsel requires investment. If your matter fits that profile, you'll receive candid, experienced, and strategically sound advice from an attorney who has spent the majority of his career on the employer's side — and knows exactly how companies and their counsel approach these disputes.
If you're looking for contingency representation on a speculative claim, this is likely not the right fit.
What "Selective" Means in Practice
Chris evaluates employee matters carefully before accepting representation. Matters that tend to be a good fit share several characteristics:
-
Clear, contemporaneous documentation of the conduct at issue
-
Meaningful and calculable economic damages
-
A client who is focused on outcomes, not validation
-
Willingness to pursue the most efficient path to resolution — which is often negotiation, not litigation
-
Matters that are not a good fit include speculative claims, situations where the primary goal is to "make them pay" without regard to economics, or cases where the client is unwilling to invest in professional counsel.
How Chris Helps Employee Clients
Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation
Chris selectively handles serious claims involving:
-
Discrimination based on protected characteristics - race, sex, age, disability, pregnancy, religion, and others
-
Hostile work environment and sexual harassment
-
Retaliation for reporting unlawful conduct, requesting accommodations, or exercising protected rights
Wrongful Termination & Contract Disputes
Chris assists employees whose termination involved a breach of contract, violation of protected rights, or other legally actionable conduct. This includes:
-
Terminations that violate an express employment agreement or implied contract
-
Terminations connected to protected activity or characteristics
-
Compensation disputes arising from departure - including unpaid bonuses, commissions, and equit
Unpaid Wages & Compensation Claims
Chris handles wage and compensation disputes that are well-documented and economically meaningful, including:
-
Unpaid overtime due to misclassification or miscalculation
-
Failure to pay earned wages, final paychecks, or accrued leave
-
Claims under the Arizona Wage Act, which provides for treble damages in appropriate cases
Leave & Accommodation Matters
Chris advises and selectively pursues claims involving:
-
Denial or interference with FMLA leave
-
Failure to provide ADA or religious accommodations
-
Discipline or retaliation for using legally protected leave
A Note on Fees
Suffecool Law does not accept pure contingency matters in most cases. Employee representation is handled on an hourly basis, or, depending on the matter, a hybrid arrangement that aligns Chris's engagement with the realistic economics of the case. Fees and structure are discussed transparently at the outset.
Clients who are unwilling or unable to invest in professional counsel are encouraged to explore other resources, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Arizona Attorney General's Civil Rights Division, or nonprofit legal aid organizations.
What to Expect
Due to the selectivity of Chris's practice and the volume of inquiries received, employee matters are evaluated exclusively through the intake form below. Matters submitted via email or phone, without a completed form, will not be reviewed or scheduled for a call.
-
Complete the Employee Intake Form - designed to help Chris evaluate whether your matter is a potential fit
-
If the matter appears to be a fit, Chirs will reach out to schedule a brief introductory call
-
If Chris agrees to move forward, you'll receive an engagement agreement and schedule a paid consultation
-
Fee structure and scope will be discussed and agreed upon before any work begins
